Cookie & Storage Policy

Which cookies and local browser storage Smart Kilowatts uses, and when consent is needed.

Necessary storage

The app uses local storage for the API auth token, cart and calculator state, first-run UI banners, and language preference. Django views can use CSRF/session cookies where required.

These items are used to deliver requested app functionality and security. They should be disclosed but do not require an opt-in banner when used only for necessary purposes.

Analytics

Smart Kilowatts uses self-hosted Umami when enabled. It is configured as cookieless, respects Do Not Track, and excludes URL query strings.

If non-essential analytics, advertising, remarketing, or tracking storage is added later, it must be blocked until the user gives opt-in consent.

Managing storage

Users can clear site data in their browser. Clearing necessary storage can sign the user out, remove saved calculator drafts, or reset local UI preferences.
